Almost Half Over Already

That would be January, that is. Look how fast it can sneak on by when we’re busy doing what we do. Remember, way back in the beginning I did mention that I have a tendency to fail to keep posting on any blog that I’ve created over time. I’m here. Really, I am.

Sunshower Shawl by Ambah O’Brien

That would be the result of the 2019 year-long KAL with Jimmy Beans Wool and Ambah O’Brien. There are a whole lot of these out there that all look just like mine. This is the Jimmy’s Choice color scheme. I want to make another one with my color choices including some yellows, greens, white, browns – you know – the colors if you’re imagining an actual sun shower.

Adenturesome Wrap KAL 2019

That’s the Adventuresome Wrap, also by Ambah O’Brien. This was the Advent KAL from December, 2019. Each stripe represents the days before Christmas including a stripe for Christmas. I ran out of the gray gradient yarn so had to order more. Guess how much I actually needed to use. Half of the stripe for December 23rd and all of the stripe for Christmas Day. I thought I’d need more of the gold but didn’t so now I have another ball. This was Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball. Since I had leftovers of the gray I used it.

Close To You by Lete’s Knits

There’s more to share but why use them all up now? Since I’m probably getting close to using up my storage space here in my photo library I’m going to have to start pre-planning each post by finding the photos online then sharing them through their URL. All of these photos are also on my Flickr since I upload them there to move them over to Ravelry.

Back to my comfy chair and tonight’s knitting project. I’m also working on an Einstein Coat by Sally Melville. Oh, that reminds me. I finished another Sally Melville design a couple weeks ago. The Classic Shirt cardigan. I’ll share a photo soon.

I’ve also started my Carbeth by KDD (Kate Davies). I bought the Cascade 200 Superwash Sport over a year ago and finally decided it was time.

It’s that Make Nine in 2020 challenge that’s getting me motivated to finally knit those projects that I’ve purchased the yarn for.

Stay tuned.

Have You Been Patient?

You’ve been surfing the ‘net daily just waiting for me to post something, right? Sure you have.

Here I am. Yes, I have been here all along just knitting away. You know, it’s the knitting that keeps me from typing. Hmmm. If that were totally true then all that yarn wouldn’t keep arriving at my house. There isn’t a Yarn Fairy Godmother just sending it. There’s online shopping going on. Way too much online shopping. It’s crazy I tell you.

Day 19
Adventuresome Wrap by Ambah O’Brien

This is mostly what has been keeping me busy over the past couple weeks. To be honest, since December 1st. Right now it’s on hold until more yarn arrives since I ran out of the silver. There’s enough of the gold left for one more day which is fine since there is only one more day of gold. There are two more days of silver. The last stripe is for Christmas Day. One of my thoughts was to knit Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in another color. A different ball of Shawl in a Ball with greens in it. I have one. There are greens and blues in it. It could still happen.

Other than knitting, what else have I been up to?

I’m trying to get organized for Stashdown 2020. There are two Ravelry forums that have lured me in. This should be fun. One forum is right in Ambah O’Brien’s group and the other is in Team Michigan. We are knitting from stash and sharing how many ounces, grams or yards of yarn we’re using up as the year progresses. We are allowed to buy more yarn during 2020. However, those purchases don’t count towards the Stashdown. We can only claim yarns that were purchased prior to 11:59 p.m. December 31, 2019. The great race begins :01 January 1, 2020 and ends 11:59 p.m. December 31, 2020. Oh, I feel the excitement already.

Do you?

It’s Wednesday & December 19th

Yes, I know this photo wasn’t taken today. All those photos are still on my camera waiting for me to get around to uploading them to my laptop. This is one of my favorites from the past few days. It seems that she likes to get her silly self into most of my outside photos. I did get a second shot of the ice in our walkway without her nose in it, but, she is off in the distance. She can’t get away from me, though since I keep her on a leash even on our land. She’s a runner and a fast one. Any critter gets her attention and off she goes.

What else am I doing? Unknitting. That would be knitting backwards or visiting the Frog Pond. Those of you who don’t know knitting technical terms wouldn’t know what visiting the Frog Pond would entail. That’s the act of going RipIt, RipIt or tinking.

The Vogue Knitting sweater #18 from 1988 is being taken apart before I finished it and decided that I would never wear it. The yarn is vintage Pinguoin that I bought off eBay and don’t want to finish the sweater and end up donating it. In case you’re too young to remember, the 1980s had a whole lot of gigantic clothing and hair. I didn’t participate in the big hair craze since my hair would never qualify for that. The big, oversized clothing wasn’t in my wardrobe, either. When you’re 5’1″ and 113 pounds those giant clothes don’t work well. So, the sweater is now back into the form of a bunch of yarn balls and future use is yet to be determined.

So, I will not be participating in the #18 in 2018 challenge this year. I’ll wait until #19 in 2019 and plan better. I did finish three vintage Vogue sweaters, though, and didn’t even start or think about a current 2018 sweater.

Back to my ADVENTurer KAL Scarf. I haven’t shared much about that here since I upload those photos directly to Flickr, Instagram then onto Ravelry so the photos aren’t on my laptop for sharing here.

Enjoy!

Sunday + 1 Hour

When I woke up this morning and looked at the clock it was one of those “what the heck?” moments until it hit me that we gained an hour during the night so I really didn’t sleep in or get an extra hour of sleep. I stayed up an hour later than usual last night working my way through my recorded episodes of this season’s Grey’s Anatomy. I think I skipped one from three weeks ago.

Today’s knitting adventure is the pair of gloves that I started on Friday night. I’m currently working on the ring finger of the first glove. It sure is a good thing that humans only have two hands and two feet or we’d really be suffering of those single sock/glove issues in a big way. Only once did I knit only one sock and never knit the second one. That was because the yarn ran out. There is a pair of small kid-size gloves that only had one finished. There was a serious issue with the fingers so that was the end of that project. When I was up at the cabin a couple weeks ago and found the glove it found its way into the trash.

Antler was finished, washed and dried yesterday. My photo isn’t so awesome so, when I wear it, I’ll get a better photo to share. Since it’s mostly a white sweater I’ll be very paranoid about wearing it since accidents seem to happen to me quite often.

Since we went for a late afternoon dog walk I missed the last 4 minutes of the Lions vs. Vikings game and am thinking that the Lions didn’t pull through for a win. We Lions fans just keep hanging on. Someday.

November 1, 2018 Post #1

Yarn

There is a whole lot of yarn around here insulating this house. If I fell out of my chair right now there would be yarn to cushion my fall. Do you think my home owner’s insurance policy could be lowered due to all the cushioning going on around me?

Why am I here?

Why start a new blog or website on November 1 of 2018?

For the past 10+ years I have had two blogs over on blogspot and there have been webpages that were built and maintained after completing two webpage building courses. Those are long gone after the hosts decided that they wanted to start collecting money to allow me to appear there. My blog over there on the other location will probably be removed when I get around to it since it was mostly aimed at my Etsy shop which is also just hanging out all empty due to my own disinterest.

Who am I?

I am a 60 year old born and raised in Michigan yarn-addicted knitter. My knitting days began before my double-digit years after my mom and her mom took a night class through one of the local libraries. They didn’t knit long after that so I took over the book, yarn, and the needles and it’s been on-stop from there.

There’s more to me than just knitting but we can get to that since I’m planning on being around for a few more decades. Sharing personal thoughts and feelings are usually not my forte on the internet. It could happen.

Writing has always been one of my favorites and during my school years several courses in various types of writing lured me in and I thrived in the creative writing courses as well as the research and expository writing courses. In my past life becoming a writer or a reporter were dreams of mine. The closest I came was to be an in-house reporter for two companies that I worked for and a reporter for my high school publication. Recently, my mom found copies of those and they are now here in a file right next to me.

November is my Birthday Month.

The special offers have started to arrive in my inbox this morning and I’m still waiting for the ones for the free yarn. So far, I’m being offered free shipping and discounts. Each year I do take advantage of a free dinner from Rochester Mills Brewery and a free Blizzard from the Dairy Queen.

Stay tuned………………
